To be young

Well the joys of being young and becoming excited with the simpliest things. This video was taken yesterday (2/25/08) after Trevor had already been spinning for a while. I have no idea where he picked this up he just started spinning. I guess the video speaks for itself. And here is another video taken after he's still a little dizzy. Oh and him putting his hands over his face. That was imitating me because I was trying to cover up a laugh. I thought that was really cute too.

Back from DC

Well we're back from the Future City Competition in Washington DC. We didn't place in the top 5 this year though. We did however, win the Best Transportation System Special Award. Fitting being that we're from Michigan. I'm guessing that they may have a little thing going though that doesn't allow teams from the previous year who placed in the top 5 to place in the top 5 again. Because the winning team from last year was there again this year and also did not place in the top 5. At least that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
There is also the theory that Kris prayed too hard. He REALLY didn't want me to be gone for another week while I went to Space Camp. So we can blame him too that we didn't make the top 5. Our team did great though and they had a lot of fun. The boy, Jack, who was on the team is a 7th grader, so he'll be back next year. I'm pretty sure he had the whole idea in his head for next year already figured out before we touched down at metro.
There's always next year!!!
OH, and for my involvment with being a mentor for this Future City team, I will be receiving an award for "Mentor of the Year" at the ESD Gold Awards Banquet this Wednesday Feb. 27th, at the Rock Financial Show Place. ESD - Engineering Society of Detroit. The teacher from the team will also be getting the "Teacher of the Year" award. So the team gets to get together one last time. Well except the pizza party!

New Resolution

I've decided I need to get healthier. I keep coming up with excuses that I'm too busy with work and studing for my PE or even "I'd rather be scrapbooking!" So I need to Just Do It!. I decided I'm going to go through the SELF Challenge. I get SELF magazine and have seen these for a few years but have not participated yet. So I'm doing it this year. If you're interested in joining me go to http://www.self.com/challenge/countdown/myhome to start your profile. The offical kickoff of the challenge is in 11 days. February 25th. Happy getting Healthy!!!

Trucking Along

For Christmas Grandpa and Gramdma DuRocher got the boys ATV Powerwheels. One of them is shown above. We haven't built the other one yet, our house isn't big enough for both of them... so I'm not sure what started this but apparently they don't think hitting the button is cool enough. They need each other to push the truck for them. They also enjoy knocking down the cardboard bricks we have (thanks to Christy) and chasing the dogs. Alex one day was on the power wheel and Nicky was across the room. Alex started hitting the button (a little at a time, he won't hold the button down) and started towards Nicky. Nicky just kept staring at him but didn't move... it was kinda like the scene from Austin Powers when Austin is driving the steam roller towards the guard... It was just the most hilarious thing. Yes Alex made it to Nicky and Nicky jumped up really quickly and walked away.

Fun in the Snow

I got home from Houston on Friday and Kris prompt allowed himself to finish being sick all weekend. So Saturday I decided to take the kids out in the snow. They really didn't know what to make of it. Trevor just stood there and kept looking at his feet and the snow. But he refused to move. I had to pick him up to move him to different areas of the yard.

Alex did walk though. And fell a couple times but it didn't stop him from trying to walk again. I think they had a lot of fun I know they diffently like going outside. I took them out again on Sunday and I just had to be in the closet and Alex started waving his hand because he knew we were going "bye-bye".
